From January 11th to February 7th, 2023, the Paris winter sales offer the opportunity for some truly satisfying retail therapy. You might want to start with a bit of window shopping in the Cour Saint-Emilion, an open-air shopping centre in Bercy Village. There, the old wine storehouses have been converted into shops and cafés and create a peaceful atmosphere away from traffic. A tradition of craftsmanship has long been established in these streets and it’s a vibrant neighbourhood. Head to the Viaduc des Arts, less than five minutes on foot from the Hotel Albe Bastille. The elegant arches of this former railway viaduct now house workshops where porcelain, jewellery, clothing and accessories are sold, and cabinetmaking and other crafts are carried on. You can also visit the astonishing Tunnel des Artisans, the old natural stone refrigerator of Paris, and be surprised at what’s on offer there.
